Job Description & How to Apply Below
This is a unique opportunity to lead and inspire in a role that will directly impact the lives of our students, their families, and the staff team. You will help drive improvements, support staff development, and ensure that we provide a learning environment where every pupil's individual needs, aspirations, and outcomes are at the heart of everything we do.
Key Responsibilities Be an active and visible member of the senior leadership team, working collaboratively with the Headteacher and colleagues. Lead staff development, supporting the sharing of best practice across the school. Support strategic planning and provide operational leadership to ensure the smooth running of the school. Contribute to the development and implementation of the School Development Plan. Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring a safe, supportive environment for all students.
Work with a range of learners, including those with sensory needs and PMLD, creating meaningful, individualised learning experiences. Help lead the vision for a sensory-rich, engagement-focused curriculum tailored to non-verbal and sensory learners. While the school will have some PMLD learners, please note that the building currently does not have a lift to access the upstairs.
What We're Looking For We want a leader who is excited to work with our young people in a sensory-driven, nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will bring:
Experience in senior leadership, ideally in a special education setting, with a strong understanding of sensory processing, PMLD, and engagement models. A proven ability to inspire, motivate, and develop staff to share and embed best practices. An empathetic, inclusive approach to leadership, ensuring that every pupil is seen, heard, and supported. A forward-thinking, creative mindset, capable of contributing to the school's ongoing development with clarity and energy.
This is a key role for a dynamic leader ready to join a passionate team, drive excellence, and help us build a school where every student can thrive. If you're eager to make a difference in the lives of students with profound needs and help create a sensory-friendly, inclusive learning environment, we'd love to hear from you.
