Pastoral Support Officer – Secondary School (Dudley)

About the Role

We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Dudley that is looking to appoint a committed Pastoral Support Officer. This is a key role within the school’s pastoral team, focused on supporting students’ wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement with learning.

You will work closely with Heads of Year, SEN staff, and safeguarding leads to ensure all students receive the guidance and support they need to thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver proactive pastoral support to students across KS3 and KS4
  • Support behaviour management strategies in line with school policy
  • Act as a point of contact for students needing emotional or social support
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
  • Monitor and track attendance, punctuality, and behaviour
  • Assist with interventions for vulnerable or at-risk students
  • Liaise with external agencies where appropriate
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Previous experience working with young people (school, youth work, care, or similar setting)
  • Strong behaviour management skills and resilience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and wellbeing practices (or willingness to train)
  • A genuine commitment to supporting young people’s development
