Overview
The Principal Geo-Environmental Engineer role is a senior leadership position based in Halesowen, West Midlands, UK. This is a full-time, permanent role that combines technical excellence, project management and client engagement. The Principal Geo-Environmental Engineer will lead complex site investigations and geo-environmental assessments, manage the geo-environmental input, and coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders on multidisciplinary projects. The Geo-environmental team provides consultancy and design services to a range of external clients including engineers, house-builders, developers and local authorities.

Responsibilities- Lead and manage desk studies, site investigations, risk assessments, and remediation.
- Provide expert advice on contaminated land assessment, groundwater and soil contamination, ground gas risk assessment, waste and materials management, and remediation techniques.
- Provide skilled advice on geotechnical engineering matters including preliminary foundation optioneering, earthworks and mining risk assessment and treatment, with a strong understanding of common geotechnical ground hazards and core principles of soil and rock mechanics.
- Oversee the preparation of high-quality technical reports and ensure compliance with UK environmental regulations and guidance (e.g. LCRM, BS10175, BS5930, CL:
AIRE Definition of Waste Industry Code of Practice, Eurocode 7/ BS8004, NHBC Standards). - Demonstrate and promote Travis Baker values and support the company in pursuing its strategy and mission.
- BSc/MSc in Environmental Science, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Chartered status (e.g. CGeol, CEnv, or similar) desirable (or working towards it).
- Minimum of 8-12 years’ experience in geo-environmental consultancy.
- In-depth knowledge of UK contaminated land legislation, planning policy, and environmental risk assessment frameworks.
- Experience in project management and client-facing roles.
- Strong leadership, communication (verbal and written), and mentoring skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g. Logging software, GIS, CAD, CLEA, P20, etc.) is desirable.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Flexible approach including occasional requirement to visit site and stay away from home.
