Graduate Geo-Environmental Engineer
The graduate geo-environmental engineer is an entry-level position for a degree-educated professional in the early stages of their career and they will support project delivery through fieldwork and report preparation. The role will build a solid foundation of site-based field skills, accurate logging and record keeping, data entry and screening, factual and basic interpretive reporting and drawings production.
Role Responsibilities- Assist with preparation of desk studies/ preliminary risk assessment and factual and interpretive ground investigation reports.
- Carry out site-based soil and groundwater sampling, logging (to BS5930), and monitoring.
- Supervise field works, following a period of training and mentoring, and develop familiarity with a wide range of ground investigation and sampling techniques.
- Assist with the monitoring of earthworks and remediation and take adequate records for verification reporting.
- Support senior staff in preparing technical reports and data interpretation.
- Organise and maintain accurate and complete site records and laboratory scheduling.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality (SHEQ) standards during site work.
- Communicate effectively with subcontractors and team members, contributing to project delivery.
- Become familiar with the principal UK environmental regulations and guidance (e.g. LCRM, BS10175, BS5930, NHBC Standards).
- Communicate, manage and record time effectively.
- Take responsibility for tasks, follow procedures and flag issues early.
- Proactively undertake and record CPD (Continuous Professional Development).
- BSc/MSc in Environmental Science, Geology, Earth Sciences, or related discipline.
- Strong interest in contaminated land and geotechnical engineering.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency with Microsoft Office; GIS/CAD knowledge desirable.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
- Flexible approach including occasional overnight stays.
- Desire to learn, problem solve and use initiative.
