Our client is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their business based in the Black Country. In this role you will be looking after banking operations. Experience with Sage or Netsuite is desirable but not essential.
What you’ll doAs an Assistant Accountant based in the Black Country, you will play an integral role in supporting the finance function through a variety of responsibilities that ensure the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with both internal teams and external partners such as banks. You will be instrumental in facilitating the transition from Sage to Netsuite, offering valuable input throughout the process.
By maintaining meticulous records, preparing reconciliations, assisting with statutory returns, and participating in audits, you will help uphold high standards of financial integrity. Your ability to communicate effectively across departments will foster a collaborative atmosphere where everyone works together towards shared goals. This role provides an excellent platform for you to develop your accounting skills while making meaningful contributions within a supportive environment.
- Oversee daily banking operations by managing relationships with banks and ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including reconciliations and analysis of financial data to support informed decision-making.
- Support the finance team during the migration from Sage to Netsuite by helping with data transfer, testing, and troubleshooting as required.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions in accordance with company policies and relevant regulations.
- Prepare bank reconciliations on a regular basis, identifying discrepancies and resolving them promptly in collaboration with other team members.
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable functions by processing invoices, payments, and receipts while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Contribute to the preparation of VAT returns and other statutory submissions by gathering necessary documentation and supporting information.
- Work closely with colleagues across departments to ensure effective communication and co-operation on financial matters.
- Participate in internal audits by providing requested information and supporting documentation as needed.
- Support ad hoc projects within the finance department, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to take on new challenges.
To excel as an Assistant Accountant in this role, you will bring proven experience from previous positions within finance or accounting environments where dependability was paramount. - Strong numeracy skills combined with proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting purposes.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities that enable you to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels across different departments.
- A methodical approach to problem-solving that ensures accuracy when reconciling accounts or processing transactions.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while prioritising workload according to deadlines set by senior staff members.
- Experience preparing or assisting with management accounts or statutory returns would be advantageous but not mandatory.
- A commitment to upholding confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information within the organisation.
