OverviewSenior Applied Psychologist - Black Country Adult Inpatient Service, Bushey Fields Hospital. An exciting opportunity to join a team of inpatient psychologists led by the Consultant Psychologist within the Urgent Care Psychology Team. The post is based in the Dudley locality and may involve work in other areas as the clinical need arises. We have strong links with local universities across clinical and forensic courses.
Mainduties of the job
To support the Consultant Psychologist, Principal Psychologist and the MDT in the delivery of specialist psychological assessments, formulations and interventions for clients with acute mental health conditions, including potential challenging behaviours. Support the Principal and Consultant Psychologists in providing psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other staff in the MDT. There are opportunities to develop leadership skills through training and development of staff, reflective practice, service developments and clinical supervision of Assistant Psychologists, Trainee Psychologists and non-psychology staff.

Job responsibilitiesThe post would suit a Clinical, Forensic or Counselling Psychologist. You will have experience working in mental health services with people with complex mental health difficulties and demonstrate a willingness to learn and engage empathically with clients, families and carers. The post holder will work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team in acute adult mental health inpatient services, supporting service users in their care and recovery.

Person Specification Education/Qualifications- Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied Psychology (or its equivalent) as accredited by the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology
- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
- HCPC registration as an Applied Psychologist
- Trained in supervision and the supervision of other psychologists or trainee psychologists
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Working as a qualified applied psychologist within a service including a wide variety of client groups, across the life course and a range of clinical severity and care settings
- Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care within a multidisciplinary team
- Teaching, training, consultancy and clinical supervision
- Research and development
- Quality and service improvement and evaluation
- Evidence-based practice relevant to adults and young people with complex mental health difficulties
- Risk assessment and risk management
