The post holder will act as the specialist lead for tissue viability, promoting best practice in wound care, lower limb management, and skin integrity. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to reduce harm, improve patient outcomes, and ensure compliance with national standards and quality frameworks.

As a senior clinical leader, you will provide expert advice and education, oversee incident reviews and root cause analyses, and drive quality improvement initiatives. The role also includes responsibility for policy development, audit, governance, workforce development, and contributing to strategic service planning.

The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced clinical expertise, strong leadership skills, and experience managing change within complex healthcare settings. Excellent communication, the ability to influence at senior level, and a proven track record in service improvement and clinical governance are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Tissue Viability Service across the organisation.
  • Act as the clinical expert for complex wound management, pressure ulcer prevention, lower limb care, and skin integrity.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and review of policies, guidelines, and care pathways in line with national standards and evidence-based practice.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives to reduce avoidable harm, including prevention and harm reduction programmes.
  • Lead and contribute to investigations, root cause analyses, and learning reviews relating to tissue viability incidents.
  • Provide specialist advice and consultancy to multidisciplinary teams across acute and community settings.
  • Oversee audit, benchmarking, and data analysis to monitor performance and improve patient outcomes.
  • Lead education, training, and competency development for clinical staff.
  • Manage and develop the Tissue Viability Team, ensuring effective workforce planning and professional development.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, safeguarding and quality teams, and external partners to maintain high standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to business planning, service transformation, and innovation in wound care.
  • Ensure effective resource management, including formulary oversight and cost‑effective product selection.
