Monday to Friday Loom Talent is working with a well-established 3PL business to recruit an experienced Head of Transport/Transport Manager to manage the day-to-day running of a busy transport operation. This is an opportunity for a hands-on, commercially focused experienced Transport Manager to take ownership of the transport operation, lead and develop the team, and drive improvements across service delivery, cost control, compliance and fleet utilisation.

The business is looking for someone who can build trust with drivers and the wider Transport team, establish clear standards and accountability, and develop strong customer relationships while ensuring the operation runs safely, efficiently and profitably.

The Role Lead, motivate and develop the transport and driving teams, building a positive, accountable and respectful working culture. Improve driver engagement, morale and retention through visible leadership and strong working relationships. Take ownership of transport performance, operational costs, service delivery and overall P&L performance. Identify inefficiencies and implement practical improvements to productivity, cost and operational performance. Oversee route planning, resource allocation and fleet utilisation, reducing empty running and maximising efficiency.

Ensure full compliance with operator licence requirements, drivers' hours, vehicle standards and relevant transport legislation. Monitor performance through data, KPIs and reporting, taking ownership of issues and driving corrective action. Lead transport planning and operational requirements for new customer onboarding, ensuring a smooth and effective implementation. Build strong relationships with customers, understanding their requirements and ensuring service expectations are consistently met.

Work collaboratively with internal teams to resolve challenges, improve service levels and support the wider business objectives. Be a hands-on, approachable leader who is visible across the operation, makes informed decisions and takes accountability for results. Requirements Transport Manager CPC is essential due to O licence responsibilties. A hands-on, people-focused leader with strong emotional intelligence and the ability to build trust, engage drivers and develop positive working relationships across the team.

Strong transport operations expertise, with the ability to assess current processes and identify opportunities to improve route planning, fleet utilisation, operational efficiency and compliance. Proven ability to stabilise teams, improve engagement and create a positive, accountable working environment. Confident People Manager - managing performance and dealing with other HR related matters Strong customer relationship management skills, with the ability to build trusted partnerships, understand customer requirements and ensure a consistently high level of service delivery.

Commercially astute, with full P&L responsibility and the ability to monitor financial performance, control costs and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency. The ability to lead change and implement operational improvements, while maintaining team morale and service delivery. A proactive approach to stakeholder engagement, ensuring effective communication between drivers, operational teams, customers and senior management to support business objectives and continuous improvement.
