Saw Operator

Location: Amblecote

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Saw Operator on behalf of our Client. The Saw Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining a range of cutting equipment to ensure materials are prepared accurately and efficiently in line with production requirements. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong mechanical ability and a commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities
 
* Operate, set up, and maintain a range of industrial saws including band saws, circular saws, and automated cutting systems.
 
* Interpret technical drawings and cutting lists to ensure all materials are cut to precise specifications.
 
* Measure, mark, and align materials prior to cutting to guarantee accuracy and efficiency.
 
* Carry out basic maintenance and blade changes to minimise downtime and maintain productivity.
 
* Inspect completed cuts to confirm accuracy and conformance to production tolerances.
 
* Assist in the movement and positioning of heavy materials using cranes, slings, and lifting aids.
 
* Follow all safety and environmental policies applicable to the role of a Saw Operator.
Skills & Experience Required
 
* Previous experience as a Saw Operator within a heavy engineering, fabrication, or manufacturing environment.
 
* Competence in reading and understanding engineering drawings and cutting schedules.
 
* Strong mechanical understanding and awareness of different material grades, particularly steels and alloys.
 
* Ability to measure and inspect work accurately using precision instruments.
 
* Familiarity with workshop safety procedures and safe material handling practices.
 
* Overhead crane or forklift licence preferred but not essential.
