EDM Operator

Owen Daniels are recruiting for an excellent opportunity for a Trainee Toolmaker / EDM Operator to join a well-established and growing precision engineering manufacturer.

This role offers the chance to develop a long-term career within a busy toolroom environment, working alongside experienced Toolmakers and Engineers. Candidates from EDM, CNC machining, toolroom, manufacturing, maintenance, or general engineering backgrounds are encouraged to apply

• Operate and support EDM machining processes.
• Assist with the manufacture, maintenance, repair, and modification of production tooling.
• Support tool trials, tooling improvements, and fault finding activities.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, and gauges.
• Assist with tool assembly, fitting, and inspection.
• Work closely with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime.
• Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping, and health & safety.

• Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering, machining, or toolroom environment.
• Experience operating EDM machinery would be advantageous but not essential.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Good understanding of precision measurement techniques.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• EDM (Wire or Spark Erosion)
• CNC Milling or Turning
• Surface Grinding
• Tool Maintenance or Repair
• Press Tooling
• Apprenticeship or Engineering Qualification
