We are currently recruiting for a General Machinist to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with machining experience who are looking to develop their skills within a heavy manufacturing setting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating CNC machinery as well as a range of conventional workshop equipment to support production requirements.
Working Hours
* Monday to Thursday: 7:45am – 4:45pm
* Friday: 7:45am – 3:45pm
* Total weekly hours: 41.5 hours
Please note that while the company's standard contracted week is 39 hours, employees work an additional 2.5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
* Operating CNC machinery safely and efficiently
* Using conventional machining equipment including:
* Chop saws
* Threading machines
* Conventional drilling machines
* Pillar drills
* Other general workshop machinery
* Producing components to required specifications and quality standards
* Carrying out routine machine checks and maintaining a safe working environment
* Following engineering drawings and production instructions
* Supporting general workshop and manufacturing operations as required
Requirements
* Previous experience in a machining or engineering manufacturing environment
* Experience operating CNC machinery
* Familiarity with conventional workshop machinery and equipment
* Ability to work safely within a heavy engineering or forge environment
* Good attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
