Band 6 District Nurse – Out of Hours, Shift Lead
OverviewWe are looking to appoint a Band 6 District Nurse into our friendly and supportive team. You must have effective communication and negotiation skills. As an advocate for our patients, you need to have the ability to inspire people at all levels. This post requires understanding the expanding role of community nursing and a commitment to taking it forward. You will need a sound understanding of the current primary care agenda, with excellent communication, leadership and decision‑making skills.
You will need to be innovative and able to work autonomously while promoting a positive and supportive learning environment for team members and students. This is an opportunity to develop leadership skills in supporting the team leader.
- Lead and supervise the Out of Hours District Nursing team, including junior staff and students.
- Operate within a 7-day service, including bank holidays and weekends.
- Act as an advocate for patients and promote a safe, caring and effective service.
- Inspire and support team members at all levels and contribute to ongoing development of the team.
- Support the team leader and contribute to service improvement in line with the primary care agenda.
- Utilise effective communication, time management, prioritisation and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Leadership and decision-making abilities; ability to work autonomously.
- Understanding of the expanding role of community nursing and commitment to its development.
- Sound understanding of the current primary care agenda.
- Ability to manage time, prioritise tasks and solve problems.
- Experience in supervising junior staff and students.
