About the Role
We are looking for a SHEQ Manager who can take full ownership of all Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Standards for our Dudley site.
The successful candidate will manage, develop, implement and oversee comprehensive SHEQ programmes to promote a healthy work environment.
A strong ability to ensure continuous improvements on SHEQ compliance by working effectively with the management teams to maintain international certifications and approvals, including ISO 9001, BES 6001, SGS and National Highways Section Scheme 3B, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and BSEN 1090-1.
The role will include data reporting, system implementation, risk management, supplier management, capability building, SHEQ improvement and compliance.
This is a site-based role at our Dudley site (DY2 0UY
), working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, hours to be agreed.
Key Responsibilities
SHEQ Compliance
Make safety the top priority and work with the Dudley management team to achieve high SHEQ standards and sustainable improvements.
Regularly assess the site, identify areas for improvement and ensure corrective actions are completed so the site is always audit ready.
Review supplier audit findings, ensure issues are investigated and resolved, and check that corrective actions are effective.
Maintain SHEQ certifications and approvals, including ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and BS EN 1090-1.
Ensure the site continues to meet ASD SHEQ requirements.
Manage the reporting and investigation of non-conformances, incidents and accidents.
SHEQ Improvement
Develop and deliver an annual SHEQ improvement plan.
Improve SHEQ performance through effective processes and routines, with the aim of achieving 100% in the SHEQ audit score.
Regularly review performance and make improvements where required.
Risk Management
Identify operational risks across the business and develop action plans to prevent or reduce them.
Work with colleagues to implement and review preventative and corrective actions.
Data Reporting
Work with the management team to prepare and share accurate reports with key stakeholders.
Collect and report required sustainability data.
Systems Implementation
Implement SHEQ improvement tools and processes, including 5S, SPC, OEE and TPM.
Ensure continuous improvement is embedded into daily operations.
Supplier Management
Ensure suppliers meet ASD requirements.
Support the approval of new suppliers.
Capability Building
Work with the management team to identify training needs and support employee development.
Focus training and development on the key needs of the business.
Build SHEQ ownership at all levels through effective communication, awareness and management routines.
About You
We are looking for someone with strong technical SHEQ experience, ideally gained within a manufacturing or steel environment, who can combine technical knowledge with the ability to influence and drive improvement across the site.
Essential Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
Three or more years' experience in a SHEQ environment.
Strong technical knowledge of the steel industry, manufacturing standards and practices, quality assurance, material testing and relevant systems and processes.
A Level 3 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety and/or Quality, such as NEBOSH.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess facts, challenge assumptions, make sound decisions and take appropriate action.
Good knowledge of business management systems, particularly ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
A strong understanding of governance requirements and business conduct standards.
