Salary: £36,000–£42,000
39 hours per week
Monday–Thursday: 08:00–16:30
Friday: 08:00–15:00
The Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Quality Engineer to join our team and support quality, NPI and continuous improvement activities within our machine shop.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of APQP, FMEA and Control Plans. Knowledge of SPC and MSA is desirable, while experience with CMM programming, preferably using PC-DMIS, and GD&T would be advantageous.
This is a hands-on role working closely with manufacturing, production and customers to ensure consistently high standards of quality. Internal training is provided for CMM programming and GD&T.
Key Responsibilities
* Support APQP and NPI activities within the machine shop.
* Generate PPAP documentation in line with customer requirements during NPI.
* Support customer 8D and CAR activities, working with customers and manufacturing teams to identify root causes, implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
* Review and analyse daily scrap data and update quality metric display boards and QOS reports.
* Support and oversee internal and external calibration processes.
* Develop in-house calibration procedures to reduce reliance on external calibration laboratories.
* Conduct internal process audits and daily process compliance inspections.
* Prepare work instructions covering production and quality requirements.
* Provide quality-related training, guidance and mentoring to shop floor personnel.
* Create and maintain CMM programmes for NPI and existing components.
* Carry out patrol and pre-dispatch inspections to protect customers from known and historic quality issues.
* Work with production and engineering teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
* Previous experience in a Quality Engineering or similar manufacturing environment.
* Good knowledge of APQP, FMEA and Control Plans.
* Knowledge of SPC and MSA is desirable.
* CMM programming experience, ideally using PC-DMIS, is advantageous.
* Knowledge of GD&T is desirable.
* Experience with PPAP, 8D and corrective action processes.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work with customers and shop floor personnel.
* A practical, hands-on approach to quality.
Training & Development
Internal training is available for CMM programming and GD&T, providing an excellent opportunity for candidates to develop their technical and quality engineering skills.
Working Hours
39 hours per week:
* Monday–Thursday: 08:00–16:30
* Friday: 08:00–15:00
