About the Role:

Our client is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join the Safeguarding & Support Team. In this crucial role, you will work to protect vulnerable children and adults at risk, ensuring their safety and well-being through effective intervention and support. You will be responsible for assessing risk, providing timely support, and implementing safeguarding measures in accordance with relevant legislation and best practice guidelines.

As a member of the Safeguarding & Support Team, you will work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to provide a coordinated response to safeguarding concerns. Your work will involve engaging with children and families, understanding their needs, and advocating for their best interests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families to identify safeguarding concerns and develop appropriate intervention plans.
  • Develop and implement safety plans and support strategies to protect vulnerable individuals from harm.
  • Engage with children, families, and other professionals to gather information and facilitate effective case planning and review processes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and local authority policies.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including health, education, and the police to ensure a coordinated approach to safeguarding.
  • Participate in child protection conferences, strategy meetings, and reviews, advocating for the needs and wishes of children and families.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to families, helping them to access relevant resources and services to meet their needs.
  • Monitor and review cases to ensure that intervention plans are effective and that families are making progress.
  • Ensure that all work is conducted in line with the Children Act (1989), Care Act (2014), and Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018).
  • Engage in continuous professional development, including attending training and supervision sessions, to enhance your skills and knowledge in safeguarding practice.
  • Promote the voice of the child in all aspects of your work, ensuring that their views and feelings are considered in decision-making processes.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, making informed decisions to safeguard children and vulnerable adults.
  • Contribute to the development and review of policies and procedures that support best practice in safeguarding.

About You:

The ideal candidate will be a motivated and skilled social worker with a strong commitment to safeguarding and a passion for supporting children and families. You will have the ability to work under pressure, manage a caseload effectively, and build trusting relationships with vulnerable individuals.

  • Qualified Social Worker with a degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification) recognised by Social Work England.
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience in children’s services, particularly in safeguarding and child protection.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices, including the Children Act (1989), Care Act (2014), and Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018).
  • Excellent assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make informed decisions based on evidence and best practice.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advocate for the needs of children and families.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-agency environment, maintaining professional relationships with various stakeholders.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage a caseload effectively and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
