Role purpose

To deliver advanced social work practice and professional leadership within the Duty and Assessment Team, ensuring timely, high-quality responses to safeguarding concerns, referrals, and assessments in line with statutory requirements, local thresholds, and best practice guidance.

What you will do
  • Lead and undertake complex statutory assessments, including Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) cases.

  • Provide expert analysis and decision-making to ensure appropriate thresholds and timely interventions.

  • Support the screening, triage, and prioritisation of referrals received through MASH and Duty services.

  • Offer professional consultation, mentoring, and guidance to social workers and less experienced staff.

  • Take responsibility for high-risk cases, ensuring risks are clearly identified, assessed, and managed.
