Reports to: Director of Student Services, Principal
Salary: $90,000 – $95,000

Supervises: No Supervisory Responsibilities
Primary Function:

  • To provide high quality psychological services to the Balsz School District in support of the district’s goals.

Qualifications:

  • M.A., M.S.Ed., Ed.S., Ph.D., Ed.D., or Psy.

    D. in School Psychology or Psychology (Required)
  • Arizona Certification as School Psychologist (Required)
  • Maintain CPI Training Certification

Assigned Responsibilities:

  • Assists in identifying appropriate interventions including those related to crisis, school-wide, regular classroom, special education classrooms, and individual students.
  • Provides consultation to district and school administration, individual staff members, parents, community and specific programs.
  • Provides psychological evaluations and expertise to the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) process in determining eligibility and specific programming needs of students.
  • Provides therapeutic interventions addressing the mental health needs of individual students, groups of students, and the families of students.
  • Provides training on selected topics, and to practicum students, interns, and post-doctoral students as specified.
  • Provides school and district-wide training.
  • Provides support to the Balsz School District in an effort to evaluate individual programs, assists in establishing local norms and identifying student characteristics that will positively impact the education of all students.
  • Maintain competence and skills in the area of school psychology through continued professional growth.
  • Register with Medicaid as a provider.
  • Maintain daily and Medicaid logs and time study.
  • Provides other related tasks, which may be assigned by the Director of Student Services.

Required Skills:

  • Works cooperatively with administration and staff at the building level to best meet the educational needs of the student population.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and promote positive school and community relationships, perform crisis intervention, and lead the special education team on a campus.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to meet the needs of students, parents, staff.
  • Ability to clearly articulate the special education and evaluation processes to the understanding of staff, parents, students, community members.
  • Familiarity with the computer and able to develop skill with special education software and Internet based programs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
