Passionate and dedicated individual whose primary focus is on reading intervention and supporting classroom literacy instruction, while also building relationships between students and volunteer mentors.

The Tutor will assist the school Site Coordinator with evidence-based tutoring practices, provide volunteer mentor support, and assist with basic site coordination needs. The Tutor may be asked to cover certain site operations in the event of the Site Coordinator’s absence. This position reports to the Site Coordinator.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing reliable academic assistance in literacy to students in the K-5 literacy program 2-4 days per week.
  • Following evidence-based tutor practices as outlined by Partners in Education.
  • Assisting Site Coordinator with basic site coordination needs as necessary.
  • Helping fill gaps in programming due to mentor or site coordinator absences.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of student and school information.
  • Keeping Site Coordinator informed of what students are working on, including progress updates.
  • Encouraging students, building confidence and promoting positive social interaction and learning habits.
  • Assisting with data collection and analysis as necessary.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Essential Functions:
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, stand, walk and sit for long periods of time.
  • Working conditions are normal for an office/school environment and include operating a motor vehicle in a safe manner while attending scheduled sessions and events as required.
  • Communicate professionally at all levels and work independently as needed.
  • Read, comprehend information and ideas, and convey information effectively.
  • Must meet pre-employment requirements, including background check.
  • Work a schedule which corresponds with the school calendar, including training in mid-August.
  • Collaborate effectively with others.
Requirements include:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1-2 years working with students.
  • Familiar with computer applications including Google Workspace.
  • Completion of all mandatory training.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of school requirements and policies and maintain student confidentiality as necessary.
  • Must be reliable and dependable and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Great organizational and time management abilities, including a healthy work/life balance.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to problem solve and be flexible.

Position begins in mid-late August | Part-time, 4-10 hours per week | $16 per hour.
