The Pre-Licensed Therapist is responsible for providing trauma-informed, client-centered therapeutic services under the oversight of a Licensed Clinical Supervisor
. This role supports clients experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, substance abuse recovery, mental health challenges, re-entry from incarceration, and community reintegration.
The Therapist participates in individual and group counseling, treatment planning, case collaboration, clinical documentation, and interdisciplinary team meetings while gaining the supervised hours required for licensure.
Key Responsibilities Direct Client ServicesProvide individual, group, and family counseling sessions under supervision.
Conduct clinical assessments
, biopsychosocial evaluations, and intake interviews.
Develop treatment plans that reflect client strengths, goals, culture, and needs.
Facilitate evidence-based group programming (ex: CBT, MRT, relapse prevention, life skills).
Respond appropriately to clients in crisis
, escalating to supervisor when necessary.
Complete timely, accurate clinical notes (DAP/SOAP, progress notes, assessments).
Maintain documentation that meets Medicaid/Medicare, HIPAA, and audit standards

Participate in treatment team reviews
, staff case conferences, and supervision sessions.
Document all services delivered on the same day, per agency policy.
Professional DevelopmentAttend weekly 1:1 clinical supervision with a licensed supervisor.
Attend group supervision
, training, and continuing education as assigned.
Engage in reflective practice and ongoing professional growth toward licensure.
Work collaboratively with Case Managers, Peer Support, Housing, Medical, and Legal teams
.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to support coordinated client care.
Advocate for client stability, safety, and progression across service systems.
Qualifications RequiredMaster’s degree (or current enrollment in final year) in:
Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related field.
Must be eligible for associate-level license (e.g., APCC, AMFT, LSW, LMSW, APC, etc.).
Commitment to working with individuals affected by trauma, addiction, and housing instability.
Strong communication, emotional regulation, and empathy skills.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Preferred (Not Required)Already registered as an Associate / Pre-Licensed therapist in the state.
Experience in residential treatment, re-entry, domestic violence services, or community mental health.
Familiarity with CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, MRT
, or similar modalities.
Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Creole is a strong plus.
Schedule & SupervisionMust attend weekly clinical supervision
.
Must participate in case review meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings.
Hybrid arrangements may be approved after training period.
CompensationHourly or salary based on experience and license status.
Clinical supervision hours provided and count toward licensure
.
Additional pay available for groups, crisis response, and after-hours work.
