Position: Mechanical Senior Supervisor – Base Maintenance

The post holder will report to the On Aircraft Depth Team Leader and be an experienced and skilled supervisor undertaking a range of detailed maintenance activities on an aircraft or aircraft component during primary, minor and major aircraft servicings, demonstrating the ability to derive diagnostic techniques.

The post holder requires an excellent understanding of the approved technical data set and is competent to supervise personnel carrying out maintenance instructions in accordance with the organisation’s regulatory framework.

Demonstrates a distinct ability to analyse and diagnose faults on the Typhoon, equipment and assemblies, follow diagnostic procedures and work effectively within a team. Providing guidance to less experienced team members in a diverse and dynamic operational environment.

Core Activities
  • Undertaking detailed maintenance, inspection and supervision activities on the Typhoon and its components.
  • Assuring work carried out has been completed in accordance with the work package using the relevant approved technical information.
  • Resolving faults and maintenance issues, including configuration management.
  • Undertaking and completing tasked maintenance and diagnostic activities on the Typhoon aircraft or components which may include, as appropriate, aircraft ground handling, flight servicing, aircraft role changes, component removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements and/or functional/system test.
  • Demonstrate a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate to the role and take direction appropriately.
  • Maintain personal task authorisations for working on aircraft or components.
  • Ensuring that maintenance is undertaken to schedule and resolve any issues, escalating as required.
  • Undertaking fault evaluation and raise ad hoc work cards for ‘found faults’ during maintenance.
  • Supervising the team to ensure that maintenance is undertaken to schedule and highlight any issues, escalating as required, and report on any impact to the wider program.
  • Ensuring that staff are sufficiently competent and approved for the maintenance tasks allocated to them.
  • Undertaking support tasks within the Aircraft or component maintenance facility which are required to maintain compliance with the MOE and Functionally Mandated Procedures (FMPs) (e.g. oversight checks, control of tooling and test equipment, etc.).
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the team, develop team members using formal assessment processes such as PDRs, support and sponsor training requests including ‘on the job training’, and demonstrate sound and comprehensive communication and people management skills in order to exchange complicated information.
  • Ability to scope and carry out independent and vital inspections.
Key Accountabilities
  • Performance indicators – Ensure the effective management of Part 145 activities by setting delivery targets, monitoring progress and developing performance improvement programs. Prioritise activities within and across teams to maximise efficiency. Responsible for the assessment of escalated issues for any impact on continuing airworthiness and generating effective resolution, or sponsoring escalation to management, as appropriate.
  • Completion of activities – Ensure all Part 145 activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant systems (IT or paper based). Ensure suitably qualified, experienced and authorised personnel perform all Part 145 activities. Ensure the integration of Part 145 activity within the business, including the engagement of key stakeholders at all stages of the process. Provide support and guidance to the team.
  • Procedure/standards – Manage the Part 145 team(s)’ compliance with the Part 145 Exposition, its associated procedures and standards, and any other company procedures and standards, as applicable. Identify, propose and implement change as required, whilst ensuring compliance.
