Job Summary

The Weapons Junior Supervisor is an experienced and skilled armament technician undertaking a range of detailed maintenance activities on the Typhoon aircraft and aircraft components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain airworthiness through appropriate task delegation and authorisation on an aircraft or aircraft component.
  • Meet agreed delivery targets at a tactical level.
  • Demonstrate people management and leadership skills.
  • Maintain awareness of broader external dependencies and identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Have an excellent understanding of the approved data set and supervise personnel carrying out maintenance instructions in accordance with the organisation’s regulatory framework.
  • Analyze and diagnose faults to equipment & assemblies, follow diagnostic procedures and work effectively within a team.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced team members in a diverse and dynamic operational environment.
  • Undertake tasked maintenance & diagnostic activities on the Typhoon aircraft or weapons systems/components, including ground handling, flight servicing, role changes, component removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements and functional/system tests.
  • Perform detailed maintenance, inspection and supervision activities on an aircraft or aircraft components, ensuring compliance with the SOW / Work package and approved technical information; resolve faults and maintenance issues, with awareness of configuration management.
  • Ensure staff are competent and approved for the maintenance tasks allocated to them and maintain personal & team task authorisation in accordance with AMC requirements.
  • Support tasks within the aircraft or component maintenance facility to maintain compliance with MOE and AMC procedures (e.g., oversight checks, control of tooling/test equipment).
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the team, develop team members using formal assessment processes (e.g., PDRs), and support and sponsor training requests including on‑the‑job training.
  • Undertake fault evaluation and raise ad hoc work cards for found faults during maintenance.
  • Scope and carry out independent and vital inspections.
  • Supervise the team to ensure maintenance is undertaken on schedule, highlight issues, and escape (escalate) as required.
  • Report on any impact to the wider programme.
  • Demonstrate a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate to the role and take direction appropriately.
  • Maintain a personal Log Book to demonstrate currency and recency; on completion of on‑the‑job training (OJT) activities, sign other personnel’s logbooks within your trade and skills boundaries. Approved assessors may undertake authorisation and task competency approvals and check Pt 145 license application packs prior to submission.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant systems (IT/paper based); compile required reporting, identify issues, and escape (escalate) as appropriate.
  • Provide support and guidance, including allocation of tasks to appropriately authorised maintenance technicians.
  • Compile appropriate reporting, identify issues, resolve and escape (escalate) as appropriate to keep maintenance servicing on schedule.
Requirements
  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or a military equivalent apprenticeship/qualification.
  • Typically 3+ years of experience, including Typhoon type.
  • Academic qualification: minimum City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance.
  • Typhoon Composite Flight Servicing experience.
  • Engineering HNC or equivalent experience.
  • Foundation level Leadership experience.
  • Human Factors knowledge.
  • E & PW Awareness.
  • ITAR Awareness.
