The Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Bay Supervisor will report to the mechanical workshop controller and be an experienced and skilled tradesman/supervisor, undertaking a range of detailed maintenance activities autonomously on aircraft and in the Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Bay. They will be responsible for maintaining airworthiness through appropriate task delegation and authorisation on the Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Bay activities.
The post holder should be able to demonstrate awareness of broader external dependencies and identify areas for continuous improvement.
Core Activity- Undertaking detailed NDI inspection activities on Aircraft/Ground Support Equipment components, ensuring work is completed in accordance with the work package using the relevant approved technical information and approved data.
- Undertaking and completing tasked maintenance and diagnostic activities in Non‑Destructive Inspection testing, which may include component inspections.
- Demonstrating a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate to the role and taking direction appropriately.
- Ensuring staff are sufficiently competent and approved for the maintenance tasks allocated to them. Maintaining personal and team task authorisation for working on an aircraft or components in accordance with AMC requirements.
- Responsible for meeting agreed delivery targets in the short to medium term through the supervision of others, including progress reporting against delivery targets to management.
- Providing guidance and leadership to the team, developing team members using formal assessment processes such as performance reviews and supporting training requests, including on‑the‑job training. Demonstrating sound and comprehensive communication and people‑management skills to exchange complicated information.
- Maintaining personal and team task authorisation for working on an aircraft or components in accordance with QAF requirements.
- Maintaining a personal Log Book to demonstrate currency and recency; on completion of on‑the‑job training activities, signing other personnel’s logbooks as appropriate within your trade and skills boundaries. If you are an approved designated assessor, undertaking authorisation and task competency approvals, and checking Pt 145 licence application packs prior to submission.
- Undertaking support tasks within the Non‑Destructive Inspection Bay facility required to maintain compliance with the MOE and QAF procedures (e.g. oversight checks, control of tooling/test equipment).
- Undertaking fault evaluation and raising ad‑hoc work cards for ‘found faults’ during maintenance.
- Performance indicators – ensuring the effective management of regulatory activities by setting delivery targets, monitoring progress, and developing performance improvement programmes. Prioritising activities within and across teams to maximise efficiency and assessing escalated issues for any impact on continuing airworthiness, generating effective resolution or sponsoring escalation to management.
- Completion of activities – ensuring all maintenance activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant systems (IT or paper based). Compiling required reporting, identifying any issues and escalating as appropriate.
- Procedure/standards – complying with the regulatory framework, its associated procedures and standards, and any other company procedures and standards as applicable. Identifying and proposing changes.
- Safety Management System – promoting the application of human factors, error management, risk management and safety assurance within the Part 145 team, together with the proactive analysis, mitigation and management of hazards.
- Management System Assurance – ensuring maintenance activities are compliant with the QAF governance and assurance framework, including supporting process confirmations and independent assurance audits.
