Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a finance team in Duluth, Georgia on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This position supports day-to-day payables operations by ensuring invoices, vendor records, and outgoing payments are handled accurately and on schedule. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational ability, attention to detail, and confidence working with accounting systems and spreadsheets in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming vendor invoices for completeness, coding accuracy, and required approvals before processing.

- Compare bills against purchase orders, receipts, and supporting documentation to confirm valid charges.

- Enter invoice and payment information into accounting systems with a high level of precision and timeliness.

- Coordinate with vendors and internal departments to answer payment questions and resolve account discrepancies.

- Prepare scheduled payment runs and support the processing of checks, electronic payments, and other approved disbursement methods.

- Maintain organized records for invoices, statements, and payment activity to support audits and reporting needs.

- Reconcile accounts payable transactions and assist with identifying variances or outstanding issues.

- Contribute to month-end and year-end close activities by providing payables data, aging details, and related financial support. Requirements - Prior experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and comfort using accounting or ERP platforms such as SAP.

- Working knowledge of invoice entry, payment processing, journal posting, and other full-cycle accounts payable tasks.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage transaction-heavy workloads accurately.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills for vendor interaction and internal coordination.

- Ability to prioritize deadlines, investigate discrepancies, and resolve problems independently.

- Basic understanding of accounting controls, compliance practices, and financial recordkeeping.
