Payroll Specialist

Specialty Building Products is currently looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our VALUES based organization. The Payroll Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring every paycheck reflects accuracy, care, and trust. This position is more than numbers. • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple states with accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Calculate overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, and retroactive pay with precision and fairness.
• Maintain accurate payroll records, including deductions, garnishments, and benefit contributions.
• Review payroll registers and reports for accuracy; research and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Partner with HR on new hires, terminations, pay changes, timekeeping, and benefits updates to ensure a smooth employee experience.
• Serve as a trusted resource for employees, responding to inquiries regarding pay, taxes, deductions, and payroll policies with clarity and care.
• Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and assist with internal and external audits.
• Uphold strict confidentiality and protect sensitive employee information at all times.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of payroll processing experience for hourly and salaried employees preferred.
• Strong knowledge of payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and payroll best practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll systems; experience with UKG is a plus.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
