Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior
Mechanical Engineer with ten to fifteen years of experience. The ideal candidate will be a self‑motivated team player looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic and progressive firm. The successful individual will work closely with our business development team and other discipline leads in developing technical proposals and will take a proactive role in marketing/business development. This role provides the opportunity to help build and mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals within a collaborative multidiscipline office.

This candidate will be working directly with clients providing consulting services.

The ideal candidate will have experience in providing engineering for a variety of projects involving HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and coordinating multifaceted projects. We are seeking innovative, results‑oriented individuals who value high standards of performance and collaborative teamwork.

• Design HVAC and plumbing systems
• Manage and design multiple concurrent projects
• Strong ability to interpret technical drawings
• Lead design team efforts
• Manage project team for budget and schedule control
• Develop fee‑and‑qualification‑based proposals
• Familiarity with relevant mechanical, energy, plumbing codes and ensure design conforms with all applicable codes and client standards
• Read and prepare project drawings, including ductwork plans, piping plans, sections, isometric piping drawings, and bills of materials
• Perform HVAC calculations and analysis using standard industry programs
• Multi‑task and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment
• Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities
• Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of database concepts and marketing databases and proposal resource files
• Conduct marketing/business development activities
• Be a positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale
• Ability to travel

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering (required)
• 10 to 15 years of experience
• Experience with load calculation software
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Project management experience and/or certifications
• Desire to lead inter‑disciplinary projects and project teams
• Experience with energy modeling is a plus
• Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus
• Active local industry involvement is a plus
