Controller Accounting Director

APG distributes automotive replacement parts, accessory items, and service items throughout the United States primarily under the NAPA brand. The Controller is responsible for all accounting functions for APG’s field operations, including Distribution centers, Stores, District, and Division offices. APG seeks an experienced and analytical Controller with strong leadership skills to oversee accounting operations and improve financial performance. This position reports to the VP of Finance and leads a team of approximately 20.

• Monitor the financial performance of APG’s field operations.
• Compile and analyze financial reporting packages.
• Maximize return on financial assets through policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
• Protect assets by establishing and monitoring internal controls, including account reconciliations.
• Conduct audits and coordinate with internal and external auditors.
• Ensure accurate and complete monthly financial statements, analyze variances, and prepare management reports.
• Report on financial condition by interpreting financial data.
• Support operations and advise on accounting policies and transactions.
• Prepare special reports on information and trends.
• Partner with other departments on items impacting financial statements and operations.
• Assess and improve current accounting operations and processes.
• Oversee sales tax compliance and reporting.
• Manage operational staffing and team development.
• Coach, counsel, and evaluate staff performance.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Professional credentials such as CPA, CMA, or CGMA.
• At least 10 years of leadership experience in accounting, preferably leading teams of 15+.
• Proficiency in Excel and MS Office, tech-savvy.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Analytical, detail-oriented, and self-driven.
