General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific store area and overall store operations when functioning as Manager on Duty. Duties include opening/closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation and a clean work area, and executing company operational processes.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Practice safe behaviors and prioritize safety in all actions.
  • Maintain high awareness on the sales floor; correct or report unsafe conditions.
  • Secure building entrance/exit, EAS devices, cash office, armored car pick‑ups, and register area.
  • Clear clutter and maintain safe egress to emergency exits.
  • Ensure customer safety, accident prevention/reporting, and emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarms as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
  • Recognize associates using company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Maintain professional appearance per dress code; ensure all associates do the same.
  • Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards.
  • Receive merchandise truck as needed and process items with urgency.
  • Handle non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of stockrooms.
  • Assist in delivering and placing merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Secure and process back‑stock per company policy.
  • Clean and organize inventory and signage.
  • Manage floor moves and signings, including promotional displays.
Loss Prevention
  • Comply with Loss Prevention Awareness Program; maintain customer service presence on floor.
  • Demonstrate integrity and protect confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Maintain Public View Monitor (PVM) and perform “Code 50” package inspections.
  • Execute company best practices to minimize steps and touchpoints.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Ensure associates execute front‑end procedures to company standards.
  • Maintain pace, energy, and presence to expedite customer wait times.
  • Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control, and front‑end procedures.
  • Control associate break schedules for backups, lunches, and breaks.
  • Ensure all equipment and supplies are functioning and stocked.
  • Expedite go‑backs; ensure they are scanned, security‑tagged, and ticketed.
  • Teach “Scan and Bag” best practice to all associates.
  • Ensure salability of merchandise on the front‑end, aisle tables, and specialty racks.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintain fitting rooms and ensure garment tags are audited and accounted for.
  • Ensure go‑back compliance throughout the day; return all merchandise to floor properly.
Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager
  • Conduct cash pulls and bank deposits per policy.
  • Handle front‑end control, refund approval, associate purchase approval, and register operations.
  • Administer payroll, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
