Summary

Terminal Operator 1 will complete daily loading, unloading, administration and safety requirements on site. They will also actively participate in site maintenance and upkeep to drive the 5s and "make it better" programs. The Terminal Operator 1 will actively engage with customers to ensure that we are providing a solid customer experience on site.

What you'll be contributing
  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Gain full understanding and demonstrate adherence to the safety program.
  • Load trucks and/or rail cars as per the daily schedule utilizing the on-site systems.
  • Unload product as per the daily schedule utilizing the on-site systems.
  • Operate on site mobile equipment and receive training.
  • Handle inquiries and orders for customers and sales personnel.
  • Maintain shipping logs, prepare bills of lading, and calculate split-load tonnages based on a customer's instructions.
  • Work with company apps for site emails, safety incident reporting, completing training and other programs.
  • Maintain supply point and 5S standards.
  • Assist with basic maintenance of equipment on site.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
To succeed in this position, you will need
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • High school graduation or equivalent is required.
  • Willingness to learn; training will be provided.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred.
  • Mechanical ability is an asset.
  • Experience with inventory control software and familiarity with MS Word and Excel is a plus.
  • Must be safety aware and able to adhere to company safety requirements.
  • Good communication skills to deal with truckers, customers, and other employees.
  • Work well with others and independently.
  • Effective problem-solving, decision-making and attention to detail.
  • Significant use of memory.
  • Effortless mobility.
  • Ability to climb stairs several times a day as required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 74 lb.
  • Working in a confined space.
What to expect in a cement environment

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise require compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
