Duluth Center for Women and Children is a nonprofit addressing food security and poverty in the Duluth community. The social enterprise, Nourish, focuses on two significant issues in Duluth’s Central Hillside:
1) high poverty levels among single mothers, and
2) the systemic barriers low-income families face in accessing healthy foods. Women use their skills, work within a flexible schedule, and earn income while bringing positive change to their community. Nourish is on a path to be a financially sustainable social enterprise. Aligned with our priorities, the VISTA member will streamline work and help advance the work‑related skills of the women involved in the Nourish program and enable their career progression.
The VISTA member will be part of the Ecolibrium3 Ameri Corps VISTA cohort. Although each member is serving in a unique position, all cohort members will participate in VISTA‑specific activities such as regular cohort meetings, collaborative projects, professional development opportunities, and training.
