They are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their Pre‑Construction team within a respected, multi‑disciplinary contractor that has a strong track record delivering high‑quality projects across education, defence, commercial, industrial, and public‑sector frameworks. With a robust pipeline and continued growth, this key role is within a collaborative, commercially focused environment—ideal for someone who takes pride in accurate pricing, clear communication, and contributing to successful work‑winning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for new build, refurbishment, and multi‑disciplinary construction projects.
- Analyse drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and tender documentation.
- Carry out take‑offs and quantify materials, labour, plant, and subcontractor requirements.
- Engage with supply chain partners to obtain competitive quotations and assess value engineering opportunities.
- Identify project risks, constraints, and commercial considerations, providing clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Support tender strategy, bid submissions, and pre‑construction planning.
- Work closely with Design, Planning, Commercial, and Delivery teams to ensure alignment and accuracy.
- Maintain up‑to‑date cost databases, benchmarking information, and estimating tools.
- Contribute to tender adjudication meetings and present cost breakdowns where required.
- Ensure all estimating activity aligns with company standards, governance, and quality expectations.
- Proven experience as an Estimator within construction, build, or civil engineering.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and supply chain dynamics.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contractual documentation.
- Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with digital take‑off tools is advantageous.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of market rates, procurement, and risk.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Highly organised, detail‑driven, and comfortable working to deadlines.
- Experience working on public‑sector frameworks, D&B projects, or complex multi‑disciplinary schemes is beneficial.
- Analytical thinker with strong numerical skills.
