Job Description

The role is not suitable for probationers or teachers who are not available until August.

Are you a teacher committed to raising attainment and helping pupils realise their full potential? Supply teaching opportunities are available throughout the area, and we are looking for individuals with GTCS registration and knowledge of current planning and assessment procedures and national/local curriculum priorities to join our pool of Supply Teachers.

West Dunbartonshire recognises the importance of supply teachers in ensuring continuity of effective teaching and learning for our pupils. We are committed to supporting the professional development of supply teachers, and can arrange training and development opportunities to enable you to realise your full potential.

RC Approval is required if wishing to work in denominational schools.

We look forward to receiving your application.

Requirements

You will find the Head Teacher's report template attached to this advert. The relevant form (Teacher or Promoted Teacher) must be completed by your Head Teacher. Please upload your Head Teacher Report in the 'COVER LETTER' section of the application. You are not required to write a cover letter. Your application will not be considered without the Head Teacher Report; any application submitted without this report will be automatically rejected.

Responsibilities

The post is considered regulated work with children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007, and membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer.

The employment is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are therefore not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions that are 'spent' under the Act. Failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action and removal from the Register of the General Teaching Council.
