Job Description & How to Apply Below
Talent Media is delighted to partner with an established engineering and manufacturing business to recruit a Buyer for its Commercial Operations team.
This varied procurement role in a manufacturing environment involves sourcing materials and services, supporting operational plans, and building effective supplier relationships. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the business to maintain supply, manage costs and resolve issues.
What you’ll be doing
* Source and purchase components, materials, services, utilities, and equipment.
* Create and manage requests for quotation, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and supplier acknowledgements through an ERP system.
* Monitoring material availability and keeping purchasing and delivery information accurate.
* Expediting orders and coordinating actions when supply issues arise.
* Building supplier relationships and monitoring supplier performance.
* Negotiating order and contract details, while identifying opportunities to manage costs and improve value.
* Working with internal teams to meet technical, operational and commercial requirements.
* Supporting new product development, customer quotations and contract requirements.
* Helping maintain compliance with relevant regulatory, company and site procedures.
What we’re looking for
* Supply chain or procurement experience in an ERP-based manufacturing environment.
* Confidence using ERP or MRP systems and Microsoft Office, including Excel.
* Strong numerical, communication and organisational skills.
* A commercial, data-aware approach and the ability to manage competing priorities.
* The ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
* A supply chain qualification would be an advantage. Knowledge of mechanical engineering or basic metallurgy would also be useful.
* A valid UK driving licence and passport, as occasional short-distance travel may be required.
Hours and benefits
The role is 37 hours per week:
* Monday and Wednesday: 7:45am–4:30pm
* Tuesday and Thursday: 7:45am–4:00pm
* Friday: 7:45am–12:45pm
The package also includes a salary of 37k, plus 27 days’ annual leave, plus 8 public holidays, and a salary sacrifice pension scheme with employer contributions of up to 6%.
Interviews are expected to take place from November, when the hiring manager is available.
