Our client is one of the leading Building and Civil Engineering Contractors operating throughout the UK and Ireland.
They are now recruiting an experienced Civils Commercial Manager and/or Senior QS for a £50 million flood prevention scheme in Dumfries. This role offers an extremely competitive salary, a car allowance and a living Away Allowance. Candidates may be based anywhere but must be willing to work away (approximately 3 nights per week).
Responsibilities- Lead all commercial aspects of the project, providing commercial support and advice to the team to aid decision-making.
- Maintain commercial information and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
- Evaluate potential implications for dispute resolution and contribute to the development of quality, health & safety, welfare and risk management in accordance with the company’s management systems.
- Prepare, negotiate and analyse costs for budgets.
- Ensure sub‑contractors are pre‑qualified in accordance with management systems.
- Procure sub‑contractors and prepare sub‑contractor order documentation.
- Assess and certify sub‑contractor interim payments and ensure required payer/pay‑less notices are issued.
- Prepare interim valuations and final accounts.
- Manage and value valuations.
- Prepare and submit extensions of time and loss & expense submissions.
- Advise on a range of legal and contractual issues, identifying and managing commercial risks.
- Produce and present monthly cost‑value reconcilings.
- Establish, maintain and enhance effective working relationships.
- Plan, allocate and evaluate work carried out by teams, individuals and self‑directed work.
- Degree qualified.
- Construction experience at Senior Quantity Surveyor or Project Quantity Surveyor level.
- Solid commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- High levels of organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent numerical, IT and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑moving environment.
- Ability to work on initiative with minimum supervision.
- Good knowledge of construction contracts, particularly the JCT & NEC forms of contract.
