To plan, facilitate and support engaging ASDAN learning opportunities for young people aged approximately 13–25. You will deliver accredited and non-accredited learning, predominantly around food safety (with the possibility of delivering others) in a creative, inclusive and supportive way that encourages participation, confidence building, personal development and progression.

The ASDAN Tutor will work with young people with a range of additional support needs and varying levels of engagement, creating a safe and positive learning environment that promotes achievement and wellbeing. This will include offering evening and weekend sessions. Learners will likely have additional support needs, special educational needs, or be school refusers. You will also liaise with schools/teachers and other partner organisations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver ASDAN Short Courses and other learning activities to young people in group and one-to-one settings.
  • Plan creative and engaging sessions that meet the needs of different learners and learning styles.
  • Support young people to complete portfolios, evidence work and achieve accreditation.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with young people, encouraging confidence, participation and progression.
  • Adapt learning approaches to support young people with SEN/ASN and other barriers to engagement.
  • Facilitate workshops, training sessions and practical activities in an inclusive and accessible manner.
  • Maintain accurate records, learner progress tracking and accreditation paperwork.
  • Work collaboratively with youth workers, volunteers and partner organisations.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of delivery.
  • Participate in team meetings, training and ongoing professional development.
  • Follow organisational policies and procedures including health and safety requirements.
  • Support trips, outreach work and community-based programmes when needed.
