• HNC/HND, degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
• Practical experience in traffic engineering, traffic signals, ITS, network management or a closely related field
• Good understanding of traffic signal operation and traffic engineering principles.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, traffic data and technical specifications.
• Ability to investigate technical problems and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports and communicate technical matters to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to manage competing workloads and deliver work within agreed timescales and budgets.
• Ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants, developers, public bodies and other stakeholders.
• Good IT skills and experience of relevant engineering or asset management software.
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
• Membership of an appropriate professional institution such as CIHT, ICE or IET.
• Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration.
• Experience of traffic signal design, commissioning and validation.
• Experience of MOVA, SCOOT, UTC or similar traffic control systems.
• Experience of traffic modelling software such as Lin Sig, TRANSYT, Junctions or equivalent.
• Knowledge of traffic signal maintenance contracts and asset management.
• Experience of local authority roads or transportation services.
• Knowledge of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984, Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and associated Scottish roads legislation and guidance.
• Understanding of active travel design, public transport priority and road safety principles.
• Experience of procurement, contract administration and financial management
