Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated pharmacist to join our small team focussing on medicines utilisation and the supply of specialist, hospital‑only medicines across Dumfries & Galloway. The post holder will provide specialist clinical pharmacy services and advice to patients prescribed, and clinicians prescribing biologic medicines.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist clinical pharmacy services and advice for patients and clinicians prescribing biologic medicines.
- Maintain a generalist understanding of rheumatology, gastroenterology, dermatology and neurology, and develop in‑depth knowledge in one or more of these specialities.
- Support clinical teams to deliver a clinically effective and cost‑efficient service, and generate new ideas to support delivery.
- Provide clinical expertise to the pharmacy home‑care team, under the senior medicines utilisation pharmacist.
- Integrate into multidisciplinary teams, with opportunity to introduce pharmacist clinics and champion the role of pharmacist prescribers in biologics.
- Participate in general clinical, dispensary, weekend and on‑call services as required.
- Pharmacist with experience in biologic medicines preferred.
- Pharmacist independent prescriber, or working towards becoming one.
- Experience in a hospital pharmacy setting with electronic prescribing and robotics is an asset.
- Full United Kingdom registration with the appropriate council (eg NMC, HCPC, GMC, GDC) is required for this role.
Part‑time: 21.6 hours per week. Work pattern is flexible and will be discussed with the service. The post holder will be based in Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.
