Occupational Therapist

We require an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with an interest in working in an acute physical setting. If you are looking to develop your higher Band 5 skills, this post is suitable for you. You will be supported by experienced staff and will have the opportunity to develop both clinical and leadership skills.

The post will be based mainly at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary within the Therapies Department. The rotational programme (6 months) enables you to develop skills clinically and in leadership across a range of acute hospital specialities:

• Medical / Surgical – including Emergency Department and Admissions Unit
• Orthopaedics
• Rehabilitation
• Medicine for the Elderly

You may also complete a rotation in the community. This will allow you to deliver rehabilitation services and develop skills in providing ongoing rehabilitation for patients as outpatients or lity to travel independently is required for this rotation.

The Acute OT service currently provides a 7‑day service and you would be expected to work at weekends and public holidays as part of an agreed rota. This will be discussed at interview.

The service offers a friendly and supportive working environment that actively supports CPD and provides an established supervision appraisal system (TURAS) and work‑based training.
