Decontamination Technician - Scotland

Sirona Medical About the role Sirona Medical is recruiting experienced Decontamination Technicians for a range of NHS hospital contracts across Scotland. You'll work in sterile services and endoscopy decontamination units, making sure reusable surgical instruments and endoscopes are safely cleaned, disinfected, sterilised and ready for use. Assignments may include weekend cover in sterile services departments, endoscopy decontamination units and theatre support.
What you'll be doing Receiving, sorting and manually cleaning contaminated instruments and endoscopes Operating and loading washer disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, autoclaves and endoscope washer disinfectors Inspecting, assembling and packing instrument trays accurately Running and recording daily machine tests and cycle checks Keeping full traceability records for every instrument set and scope Working to NHS Scotland decontamination guidance (SHTM 01-01 and SHTM 01-06) and local policy Following infection prevention and control and PPE standards at all times Reporting faults, non-conformances and missing items to the unit lead
What we're looking for At least 6 months' NHS experience as a Decontamination Technician in a sterile services or endoscopy decontamination unit (essential) Hands-on experience with washer disinfectors, autoclaves and track-and-trace systems A good understanding of decontamination standards and infection control A current PVG scheme membership, or willingness to apply Up-to-date mandatory training (manual handling, infection control, COSHH, safeguarding) Right to work in the UK Two recent references, including one from an NHS decontamination or sterile services manager Flexibility to travel to sites across Scotland A decontamination qualification (e.g. City & Guilds or an IDSc-recognised course) is an advantage
What we offer £225 - £250 per day, depending on site and experience Weekends only A dedicated consultant who knows the contracts Fast compliance and onboarding
