Overview

We are looking for smart meter engineers with a track record of safety and customer excellence. You’ll be representing our brands in customers’ homes, so you’ll need to be comfortable talking to customers and performing installations.
Responsibilities- Fitting meters; showing customers how their meter and in-home display work; how it can help them save energy and answering questions about the green energy revolution.
- Deliver top-class service as part of the Octopus Energy Services team, supported by an office team with shared performance goals and Octopus Energy’s tech power to reduce admin time and maximize service delivery.
- Participate in a rotating call-out schedule (once every five weeks).
- On Saturdays, involvement in installations with associated rates; general duties as a Smart Meter Engineer.
- MOCoPA – held within the last 3 years with evidence
- Gas Safe – CCN1/MET1 or CMA1/MET1 (or equivalent)
- Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points
- £36,500 starting salary
- £2,500 annual performance bonus and fit bonuses

- For every asset installed beyond your sixth, you’ll earn an additional £15
- Top-class training facilities
- You will be on a rotating call-out schedule once every five weeks (Monday to Sunday) with a £250 retainer; if called out, pay is from door to door
- On Saturdays: £50 for attending; £70 for a dual fuel installation; £35 for a single fuel installation; technical aborts paid at half rate
- If eligible, we’ll invite you to an in-person recruitment event (Octopalooza) to demonstrate your skills and discuss joining us.
- During the event, you’ll undergo qualification checks, a practical trade test and an interview with an Area Manager; you’ll have the chance to ask questions and learn about life as a Smart Meter Engineer with Octopus.
