Start date: 10 August 2026 (August 2026 start is intended).

The post is a permanent full-time appointment in the Technologies faculty as Teacher of CDT. There are currently 7 teachers in the faculty, including the PT.

Website: Dunbar Grammar is a six-year, fully inclusive, comprehensive, non-denominational and co-educational school. It serves the town of Dunbar and the surrounding area. It is one of seven secondary schools in East Lothian.

The school is fully equipped for disabled access and has been redeveloped through East Lothian Council’s Private and Public Partnership scheme, with facilities including a Games Hall, Fitness Room, Drama Studio and Recording Studio. Associated primary schools are Dunbar PS, West Barns PS, Stenton PS, Innerwick PS and East Linton PS. The school roll in September 2025 was 1,098 and the current teaching complement is around 90.

Details
  • Teach the relevant subject through S1–S6, in line with school and authority policies.
  • Perform duties as directed by the Head Teacher with appropriate consideration of teacher workload, including:
    • Teaching assigned classes with preparation and correction
    • Developing the school curriculum
    • Assessing, recording and reporting on pupil work
    • Preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with administration
    • Providing advice and guidance to pupils on educational issues
    • Promoting and safeguarding pupil health, welfare and safety
    • Working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals
    • Continuing professional development
    • Participation in school planning, raising achievement and individual review
    • Contributing to good order and the wider needs of the school

  • Relevant Qualifications: Registered with GTCS as a teacher of the relevant subject
  • Permanent posts: GTCS Full registration (General)
  • Temporary posts: GTCS Full registration (General) / Provisional registration
  • PVG Membership: This post is a Regulated Role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work will be required to become a PVG member, or undergo a PVG update prior to any formal offer of employment.
  • PVG records are updated; any disclosed information will be discussed and investigated before a formal offer.
