Kickstart your Engineering career at Tarmac with our Mechanical Engineering Graduate Programme! Work on real projects, gain hands‑on experience, and learn from the best as you help shape the new era of construction! We are currently recruiting for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our Cement and Packed Products Team at Dunbar Cement Plant in Edinburgh.

As part of the UK and Ireland Cement and Packed division you will participate in a 3‑year graduate scheme, developing key skills such as decision‑making, communication, and more. You will play an important role in keeping UK infrastructure moving, contributing to the successful production of cementitious products.

What you’ll be doing
  • Learn your engineering craft, gaining a detailed understanding of cement engineering, manufacturing and production via a dedicated Tarmac development programme and the CRH international technical programme.
  • Contribute to successful continuous plant performance and address production and process bottlenecks for improved output, stability and environmental aspects.
  • Assist in tracking key process parameters and analyse data to optimise plant performance, making recommendations for modifications.
  • Gain knowledge, understanding and practical application of all safety policies, procedures and practices and be active in leading and driving safety standards and improvements.
  • Involve in root cause analysis to understand the associated costs and business impacts resulting from plant un‑planned downtime.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of the integration of new systems into our plant operations.
  • After the first 3 years, gain experience on plants across the UK and Ireland Cluster or participate in an international assignment.
  • Take pride in all work completed and be determined to succeed.
Qualifications
  • Essential:
    Degree in Mechanical Engineering; driving licence and ability to travel; willingness to work in different locations across UK and Ireland and future international assignments.
  • Desirable:
    Organisational, communication and analytical skills; passion for working safely; enthusiasm for starting a career in the building materials industry.
