Reporting to the Pre‑Construction Manager, the Estimator will work on a wide range of complex project estimates, provide proposals and work on all aspects of construction from start to finish.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Act as estimator for the majority of proposals on varied scopes of the company, taking direction and working independently from tender request to proposal submittal with limited oversight.
  • Analyze project and estimate requirements, establish a plan for implementation, and review all delegated estimates with the Pre‑Construction Manager.
  • Review plans and specifications to determine scope of work and define project requirements and milestones.
  • Work with the Pre‑Construction Manager to assess and convey potential commercial risk.
  • Identify risk on all aspects of project performance such as safety, environmental, quality, budget, billing, schedule, and operations.
  • Provide clear and concise proposals to clients as per the tender specifications and participate in internal bid and proposal reviews.
  • Work with the Pre‑Construction Manager to lead the project team (project coordinators, superintendents, forepersons, field crew) through project startup to identify milestones, budgets and specifications.
  • Assist with developing the project execution plan as per the estimate with other members of the project team.
  • Review all aspects of project performance with the project management team including startup, cost, schedule, quality, safety, environmental, client interface, operations, and closeout.
  • Communicate with clients to maintain solid, long‑term relationships, acting as the client point of contact for estimates.
  • Work with the Pre‑Construction Manager on client and business development opportunities.
  • Deliver concise estimates, proposals and budgets to the Pre‑Construction Manager as per the tender specifications on required deadlines.
  • Contribute to proposal and estimating aspects of joint venture major project pursuits (request for qualifications and then request for proposals).
  • Follow up with clients to generate feedback from submitted proposals.
  • Assist project teams in identifying and pricing extras.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Technical diploma or extensive industry experience in pile driving, foundation drilling, CIP piles, coffer dams, and/or slope stabilization is an asset.
  • 5+ years’ minimum experience managing all aspects of urban civil work from project start to project closeout.
  • On‑site major project supervision/management experience on a variety of large‑scale urban excavations and infrastructure projects involving high‑density residential projects, roadways, and marine operations.
  • Ability to effectively manage new client development, client issues, complaints and inquiries while providing excellent service to clients.
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Projects skills;
    Heavy Bid or B2W experience is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, outstanding time management, prioritization, multitasking, and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic—ability to work in a confidential, fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Personable and able to work & communicate with varied personalities.
Compensation

The role is a permanent, full‑time onsite position based out of our office in Duncan, BC with a typical starting salary range of $100,000 to $135,000 per annum. Variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
