Retail Sales Associate Part Time

Pet Smart is hiring a Part Time Retail Sales Associate focused on engaging with pet parents and their pets, providing positive experiences, and upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. The role includes store cleanliness, maintenance, and pet safety standards as well as direct care of store-owned pets.

• Enhance the pet parent experience in person, over the phone, at the sales register, and online.
• Greet pet parents and answer questions throughout the store.
• Prepare online orders for in-store pickup and ensure a smooth pickup experience.
• Care for store-owned pets (feeding, watering, cleaning habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, crickets, and fish).
• Maintain total store cleanliness standards.
• Assist with weekly price changes and monthly promotional pricing.
• Stage and sort new products to match sales floor planners; face, fill, and recover products to meet standards.
• Recommend, inform, and sell merchandise, services and live pets.
• Administer store-owned pet medications as directed by a veterinarian.
• Promote events such as adoption weekends, Treats enrollment, and charity events.
• Ensure a safe environment for associates, pets, and pet parents.
• Take immediate action if a sick/injured pet is identified and transport to a veterinarian as needed.
• Support various store areas (including services) as required; other duties may be assigned.
• Participate in the culture of Belonging and Recognition and follow all Company Policies and Procedures.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility in schedule; ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.

• Stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, and write; ability to reach with hands and arms; may stoop, kneel, and crouch; depth perception required.
• Lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100+ pounds occasionally with team lifting.
• Work may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet environments with pet hair, moderate to high noise levels, and handling live animals.
