Student Placement – Commercial Department
We are recruiting a Student Placement working within our Commercial department in the Dundee Office. This role offers an opportunity to assist with a full range of general practice surveying services, supporting an extensive and varied client base, and delivering a complete property service with high quality, efficient turnaround and cost effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities- Provide effective support to Surveyors by carrying out various tasks with adequate supervision.
- Ensure services are managed effectively in line with defined client SLAs and reporting requirements, following all G+S policy guidelines.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date data on the firm's central systems, ensuring timely and accurate production of reports for review. Develop and maintain knowledge of relevant sector legislation, policy, and the firm's products, services, and processes to support excellent customer care and service delivery. Work closely with Graduates and Chartered Surveyors to build commercial awareness and professional expertise, fostering strong relationships with colleagues across departments.
Uphold RICS regulatory compliance standards and maintain a low level of serious complaints or internal grievances. Actively gain knowledge of other areas of the business and manage any college or university coursework when applicable.
- Maintain records on the central database and provide assistance to colleagues as necessary.
- Contact clients and customers on behalf of senior colleagues, liaising effectively to ensure all transactions progress satisfactorily.
- Prepare reports, applications, and supporting documents, researching and interpreting data for learning purposes.
- Assist in preparation for meetings and shadow site visits to develop practical experience and understanding.
- Learn to operate relevant IT systems and undertake ad‑hoc duties assigned by senior colleagues.
Currently undertaking, or intending to undertake, an RICS or RTPI‑accredited degree through online study or day release at a relevant university. Possesses knowledge of the property industry, with strong IT skills across Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Demonstrates awareness of the importance of accuracy and meeting deadlines, supported by excellent organisational and time‑management abilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the confidence to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
