About the role

Are you an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator looking to play a key role in delivering critical energy infrastructure projects across the UK?

Balfour Beatty's Power Transmission & Distribution business is looking for a Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) to join our team based in Dundee
. This is an exciting opportunity to work on major transmission and distribution projects that are helping to strengthen the UK's electricity network and support the transition to a low-carbon future.

As Temporary Works Coordinator, you'll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of temporary works across our projects, ensuring they are designed, managed, installed, inspected and dismantled safely, efficiently and in compliance with industry standards and company procedures.

Working closely with project teams, designers, subcontractors and clients, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and engineering excellence.

What you'll be doing
  • Acting as the Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) in accordance with BS5975 and company procedures.
  • Coordinating temporary works activities across project teams, designers, subcontractors and clients.
  • Managing the temporary works process from concept and design through to installation, inspection and dismantling.
  • Ensuring design briefs accurately capture site conditions and project requirements.
  • Reviewing temporary works designs for compliance, constructability and safety.
  • Managing temporary works permits, including Permits to Proceed, Load and Unload.
  • Maintaining temporary works registers and associated documentation.
  • Identifying and managing temporary works risks and implementing effective control measures.
  • Carrying out inspections and compliance checks to ensure temporary works are delivered in accordance with approved designs and specifications.
  • Supporting project teams with guidance, training and best practice in temporary works management.
  • Working collaboratively with Construction Managers, Engineers, Site Supervisors and supply chain partners to ensure successful project delivery.
Our projects include a diverse range of temporary works activities, including:
  • Scaffolding for access, OHL protection and cable termination works.
  • Excavation support for cable routes, joint bays and foundations.
  • Formwork and falsework for substation and foundation construction.
  • Crane, piling rig and MEWP working platforms.
  • Temporary access roads and traffic management solutions.
  • Temporary bridges, culverts and trench crossing systems.
  • Temporary steelwork and tower support systems.
  • Temporary overhead line diversions.
  • Catenary support systems and bespoke engineering solutions.
Who we're looking for
  • Proven experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator, ideally within Power Transmission & Distribution, utilities or major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of temporary works procedures and governance.
  • Good knowledge of BS5975 and CDM Regulations.
  • Experience coordinating temporary works design, approval and implementation processes.
  • Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships across project teams, clients and subcontractors.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and risk management.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Civil or Structural Engineering qualification (HNC/HND minimum, degree preferred).
  • CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Training (or equivalent).
  • SMSTS or equivalent site safety qualification (desirable).
