DCA is a highly successful, internationally renowned centre for contemporary art that enables audiences, artists, and participants to see, experience and create through our four programme areas:
Exhibitions, Cinema, Print and Learning.

We are currently recruiting for:
Projectionist

Role Overview

The Projectionist role forms part of the wider DCA Cinema team and is responsible for the smooth delivery of the projected film programme. They will be joining a small team based within the projection room but will work independently during the course of their shift. The job holder will oversee film screenings, utilising digital and analogue multimedia formats, as well as live events with associated technical tasks.

Responsibilities

Daily tasks include preparing digital files for screening, operating and monitoring sound levels, managing film playlists and schedules, testing films and other video material. Projectionists also support live cinema events, in‑house film festivals Dundead and Discovery, and touring film seasons through AV services.

Along with digital projection, DCA Cinema utilises dual 35mm changeover projection in both of its screens. The suitable candidate can be trained in its operation or, should they come with previous projection experience, they can refresh their skills on an extensive range of equipment.

Please note:

this role requires working in dark and narrow spaces of the projection room, some lifting and carrying of film and equipment, and navigating narrow stairways.
