OverviewThe role: The Public Protection Team provides expert knowledge and guidance to staff in NHSGGC on matters relating to Child and Adult Protection. The post holder will provide clinical and professional advice and support to a wide range of staff and will work as part of a team consisting of Chief Nurse, Head of Service, Public Protection, Public Protection Lead Nurses x 2 (1 for Child Protection and 1 for Adult Protection), Public Protection Medical Lead, Public Protection Nurse Advisors (Child Protection) and Lead Paediatrician for Child Protection.

Duration, Location, and Working PatternThis is a fixed-term post of 18 months, in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The hours are 37 per week and the shift pattern is Monday to Friday, 09.00 – 17.00.
Key responsibilities- Provide NHSGGC staff with specialist advice and support, where possible on the day of request
- Work productively with and establish strong and effective links with staff from other agencies e.g. Police Scotland, Social Work, Children’s Reporter, Procurator Fiscals SCRA, Acute Directorates etc
- Assist with inspections, audits and service evaluation within designated link areas
- Assist with Learning and Significant Adverse Event Reviews and the preparation of chronologies and reports in relation to same
- Collate and analyse statistical public protection information and data for a wide range of audiences
- Deliver and develop higher level training, assist in the evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of training on an ongoing basis
- Develop link roles with assigned areas including the delivery of level 3 and bespoke training as required
- Contribute to the programme of inter-agency Public Protection training as appropriate
The post holder will be expected to have highly developed specialist knowledge of Child and/or Adult Protection which is underpinned by theory and experience, including prevention, protection, and inter-agency systems. An awareness of the issues and clarity about the way in which NHSGGC undertakes its responsibility with regards to Public Protection is essential. Professional knowledge acquired through Post Graduate certificate / Diploma/Masters in Child Protection and/or Adult Support and Protection is desirable.
The post holder will require to demonstrate a willingness to undertake level 4 study in Child and Adult Protection as required.
