What does a digital forensics investigator do day-to-day?
Every day is different. You'll use technical depth, careful methodology and high‑stakes detail work to solve problems and keep moving things forward.
- Use forensic tools such as EnCase and FTK.
- Maintain chain of custody and produce court‑ready reports.
- Build, ship and maintain reliable technical work.
Preferred: relevant coursework or certification in digital forensics. Exact requirements vary by employer and specialism; check job adverts before committing to a detailed study path.
- Proficiency with forensic tools (EnCase, FTK).
