We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Doctoral Training Programme Manager within our PGR Administration Team, to provide management and administration to our industry‑linked doctoral training programme(s) e.g. BARIToNE. This is a fixed‑term appointment for 2 years.
Established in 2022 through a Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) funded Collaborative Training Partnership (CTP) award to the Scotch Whisky Research Institute (SWRI), the BARIToNE partnership includes the International Barley Hub (IBH), the James Hutton Institute (JHI), the Universities of Dundee and Nottingham, and over 18 industry partners. The programme is currently funding up to 40 PhD studentships focusing on all aspects of the sustainability of the barley supply chain.
This post will work closely with the Executive Group and provides a varied remit, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the management and administration of the programme across all industrial and academic partners. This role is fully externally funded. For internal applicants, we are open to the possibility of offering this role on a secondment basis. Applications made on a part‑time basis for this role will be considered.
Your priorities will include:
- Responsibility for the day‑to‑day management and administration of the industrial doctoral training programme(s)
- Act as first point of contact, liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, building positive working relationships and ensuring effective communication.
- Managing and coordinating programme recruitment across the partners, ensuring that local processes are in place to manage applications and UKRI eligibility guidelines are followed.
- Working closely with Finance teams, take responsibility for ensure the effective financial management of the programme funding.
- In close collaboration with the Executive Group, take responsibility for the implementation and delivery of the programme generic & specialist skills training across all partners.
Who we’re looking for:
- An individual educated to degree level in a bioscience discipline, numerate or related discipline.
- Someone with demonstrable experience in project/programme management
- A highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills
- An individual with excellent written, verbal and numerical skills with experience of managing budgets
