Position: Emerging Teaching Artist (Instrumental)

Temporary Emerging Teaching Artist (Instrumental)

Big Noise Douglas, Dundee – 14 hours per week, working Monday to Thursday (exact hours & days to be agreed). Contract until 29 June 2028.

£29,613 per annum in year one (£16.27 per hour), £30,949 per annum in year two (£17.00 per hour). Pay award pending from 1st July 2026.

About the role

This is a graduate/early career role designed to build experience and teaching skills while supporting the Big Noise team to deliver in the Douglas community of Dundee. You will work closely with Big Noise Musicians and Support Workers to support and deliver Big Noise sessions and instrumental lessons. Emerging Teaching Artists receive training on topics such as positive behaviour, lesson planning, and the Big Noise curriculum.

  • Conduct Big Noise sessions and instrumental lessons for children and young people.
  • Collaborate with musicians, support workers and community staff to plan and deliver programs.
  • Support the use of the Big Noise curriculum and methodologies.
  • Record progress and attend staff meetings.
Qualifications / Demonstration

  • Professional standard of playing (at least grade 8 or equivalent) on your principal instrument

The selection process will be held in Douglas in Dundee week beginning 6th July 2026 and will include a panel interview, a short audition and a short demonstration lesson with a group of young people.
